The humid Ohio air hangs heavy as Maggie, barely sixteen and new to town, pleads with a stranger outside the liquor store. “Please, just this once,” she begs Sue Ann, a middle-aged veterinary assistant with kind eyes and a hesitant smile. Sue Ann agrees, seeing an opportunity for connection. Soon, Sue Ann’s secluded house transforms into the go-to party spot for Maggie and her friends, including the charming Andy and the cautious Haley. “Ma’s house,” they call it, reveling in a haven free from parents and rules. But as the parties escalate, so does Sue Ann’s possessiveness. Erica, Maggie’s concerned mother, senses something is deeply wrong, a sinister undercurrent beneath the veneer of generosity. In the seemingly ordinary town of Ohio, Maggie, a teenager adjusting to a new life with her mother Erica, seeks to make friends.
